The SM West marching band competed in its second, and last, marching competition of the year this past weekend. The competition was called the Festival of Champions, and was located in Warrensburg, MO. It is a Regional High School Band Championship competition that has gone on for 13 years now. A total of thirty-one marching bands competed in this event. It occurred this past weekend, on Saturday. The West band left Friday night to travel 65 miles to Warrensburg.

The drumline performed at 12:15 at the Student Recreation Center at Central Missouri, and the marching band performed at 2:00 on Saturday, at the Audrey J. Walton Stadium. West was put in the Red class. There were four classes (White, Gray, Red, Black), that bands were placed in. The top three scored teams in each class qualified for finals, making it a twelve band final. West did not qualify for prelims or the finals and were sent home early on Saturday. Blue Springs South got 1st place in finals, while Willard and Platte County received second and third place, respectively.
