FOMO
Fear Of Missing Out
We’ve all felt it: your friends are all together, doing things without you, and you’re stuck at home. Sometimes you even see other people doing things that you aren’t involved in, and you regret not being able to have fun also. It’s the fear of missing out.
The fact that we are able to see what everyone is doing on social media apps only adds to the number of things we see that we are missing out on.
So what can we do to avoid this fear effecting us?
There will always be things that we will miss out on, we can’t participate in everything. And while it seems lame and boring, I think that sometimes it’s refreshing to spend a night at home alone instead of going out. Sometimes it’s important to catch up on a series on Netflix or to organize your room or closet. It’s nice to have time to do things that you have been meaning to do for awhile. Maybe you should read that book that everyone has been talking about or watch you favorite movie for the 36th time.
When you are alone, it’s probably best to stay away from social media if you are prone to feeling left out. But just remember, sometimes it’s good to put yourself first, and taking a day to rest is the perfect way to do that.
