With everyone chattering excitedly about where they’re going and what they’re going to do over spring break, it’s important to know that if you aren’t going anywhere, there are still countless fun things to do right here in Kansas. All you have to do is think outside the box a little. Beyond the obvious solutions such as movies, hanging out with friends, and going bowling, there are quite a bit more adventurous endeavors that you can take part in.

If you’re willing to find your inner pioneer, a good old-fashioned camping trip is always an option. All you have to do is grab a tent, a couple of friends, some food, and you’re set. This activity, however, is not an ideal activity for everyone, such as those who are scared of nature. 

If you and your friends are more sports-minded, you can put together a pick-up game of basketball, football, or any sport you can imagine. If you want to take it a step further, you could create a tournament and set up a prize for the winning team or player. This can even be for something as simple as ping pong or pool.

There are those of you, unfortunately, who are unlucky enough to be completely friendless over spring break. Whether this is because they are all on vacation, or that you never had any friends to begin with, you will be put into a position in which you must find something to do on your own. One option is to try to watch an entire show from start to finish on Netflix, although your parents will probably not be in support of this idea. A more parent-minded plan is to write something; anything from a series of short stories to a full screenplay. You may even be able to make your screenplay into a movie once your friends return.

Try not to be too jealous of others going to tropical and wonderful places. If you really set your mind to it, Kansas can become a pretty fun place.
