March 6, 2015
The annual Art Beat at Shawnee Mission West was on March 5th. It is put on by the art teachers and the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) members at West. It showcases art from elementary schools that feed into West, as well as, Westridge Middle School student’s art. It takes the focus off of high schoolers art and puts the it the focus on young future artists. It is a family based event and all ages are welcome.
There are a multitude of activities that the youngsters can do including, going into the dark room to make photograms, ceramics, characatures, face painting, and many other stations. There was art displayed in the gallery, as well as, throughout the hallways.
“It was such a fun experience getting to interact with the elementary school kids and see how they view art.” says NAHS Vice President, Hope Erickson.
