The football team celebrates their victory with the Nordic Nasties

As the Vikings stepped foot on the field for the first round playoffs, it was easy to tell they felt they had something to prove.

The previous game, the Vikings were annihilated by SM East 54-0. The front seven for the Lancers was practically impenetrable, as the Vikings clearly couldn’t get anything done on offense.

This game, however, was a different story. Running backs Jason Meeker and Kirby Grigsby absolutely dominated on the ground. Grigsby ran for 161 yards and a whopping four touchdowns. Meeker added a respectable 126 yards and a touchdown.

For the Vikings, the game was really about proving they could get back in the win column. After the devastating loss to East, they entered the playoffs on a sour note. Even the first play of this game was a screen pass leading to a touchdown for Wyandotte.

But after that one misstep, the Vikings were all business. By halftime, the score was 49-6 and the reserves were on pushed onto the field.

The next game for them is regionals, and they play Blue Valley North on the road.
