K-State upsets No. 7 Kansas in OT
Kansas and K-State play out an entertaining game in Manhattan. The Wildcats beat the Jayhawks for the first time since Valentine’s Day of 2011. It required overtime, because Andrew Wiggins did this just before regulation ended.
Freshman Marcus Foster, of K-State? He’s one of the 10 best newbies in the country. Finished with 20, including two free throws with 21.9 to go that gave the Wildcats an 83-79 lead.
The game was sealed when Tarik Black was blocked by Wesley Iwundu. Joel Embiid, who was limited due to apparent back pain, wasn’t in the game for most of the second half and OT.
Perry Ellis, who did not sit for one second for KU until he fouled out with 35.4 to go in overtime, finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds. He led Kansas in both categories. KU was hurt big time by shooting making only 3 of 17 from deep.
The Jayhawks are now 18-6 and 9-2 in the Big 12, while K-State is 17-7 and 7-4. This was by far Bruce Weber’s biggest win of the season.
