Shoe Kansas City
SMSD is gathering shoes to help donation for Shoe Kansas City
SMSD and NEA-Shawnee Mission are joining together to help the organization Shoe Kansas City.
In 1998, Don & Leslie placed a large tub in front of their store, Elite Feet. They asked costumers to donate their used/unwanted shoes before buying a new pair. They collected everything from snow boots to sandals, with 600 pairs all together. The shoes were donated to an organization in time for the holidays.
Now fourteen years later the amount of shoes donated each year grew. Their first year they paired with Soles4Souls distributing shoes too survivors of natural disasters. Year four they distributed shoes locally with the Salvation Army. The need for children shoes has especially grew throughout the metro.
Donating to this cause helps parents and kids around the Kansas City area. The homeless population in KC is staggering and donating a couple of your used shoes would help out some one in need. You can donate gently used shoes to Shoe Kansas City by dropping them off in their collection barrel at Elite Feet, at Hawthorne Plaza. 5017 W 119 St Overland Park, KS.
