Little Free Library
Promoting literacy in Johnson County one little library at a time.
Little Libraries have been popping up all over Johnson County and Lawrence. Stretching from Overland Park to Olathe with the tag-line “Take a book, Leave a book” offers a new experience to readers everywhere.
There are over 15,000 Little Free Libraries scattered all over the world, in places like Rome and Dublin, offering free literature to passionate readers. This promotes literacy throughout several countries. Several little libraries are also in Africa and all over North America.
The Little Free Library offers a new concept of no due dates, no library cards, no fines, and a new selection of books almost every week. Everyone is encouraged to contribute and even take a book if you see one you like. Unlike a traditional library no one is yelling at you to stay quiet within an awkward atmosphere.
Each Little Library has a different fun designs. Some look like different houses, exaggerate birdhouses, and like the original school houses. Each is influenced by the owner offering new designs. Many are owned by Girl Scout Troop’s or schools.
